I'll be making the trip out there this year, just don't know when. I've got family in the area.

We've made a tentative plan for the 2nd week in may or 2 weknds before memorial day....something like that. If you want to pile in the caravan, the more the better. We dont like to stay at the camp ground because of the night restrictions and rules and crap.

Lets see if theres any takers....

We're going that same weekend. There will be a few of us but I don't know how many. I don't know for how many days or where we are staying either.... Razz All I know is we are going.

I might pull the camp trailer down with the quads in the back of the truck or borrow my folks jumping jack and throw the quads on top. I used to live near there so I never camped. What are the prices and hassles with camping at one of the campgrounds? What about camping somewhere else?

We'll have a few coming from out of state too. I met a few from www.trx450r.org and they are hardcore duners and want to hookup about the same time.

Still playin it by ear but the time is on the horizon....

Im staying at the campground, its $45 a night with power and water. Thats all I need/want. I dont mind the campground rules. Im good with a couple beers and a campfire. Its a campground not a mosh pit..

I agree with not being a mosh pit thing. Im not as rowdy as I used to be. I do like to nite ride though. I don't know what the rules for the campground are regarding curfew, noise, and all that.

Also, because of the decreased work for everyone money will be an issue. $45 a night might be a bit steep on the budget for us. I might have to camp out on the public land somewhere and fire up the generator if I take the RV. It costs the same in fuel in the truck for 2 days as it does 4 days. Groceries are cheap and gas in the quads are cheap to. Thats why I want to go for mare than 2 days. I want to make the most of it while im still collecting un-employment and not working... Cool

I need to hook up with you meet somewhere to get those shocks (if you didnt give em to someone else...lol)

k. Im all for paying for power so i dont have to listen to a generator.. But either way. We will see you there!

I still have the shocks. I need to put them in my work truck so we can meet up and you dont have to drive to emmett.. Will try again this week..

Ok, we're definitely in for May 13-16. We'll leave Thurs 13 morning and hit the road Sun 16 after a morning ride.

We looked at Desert oasis and Sand Hills Resort. Sand Hills looks to be cheaper but farther away from chokecherry, devils dune, dead horse bowl...etc. Thats fine though. My wife has online school that can't be rescheduled for that weekend and Sand Hills has free wi-fi so we are in there. For 3 nights it will be about $105 with power and water, sewer is extra but I have black water tank so no big deal.

Chicken, you're in. QFT is in also but he's staying over in the luxury sky-box over at Desert Oasis. Lets get the Quadfather and the Jones's in this too.

The only thing that sux is I like to night ride and that is strictly forbidden out of the resort. Oh well, the price we pay for conveniences.

Lets hear some more input.....

lol, The desert oaisis is hardly a luxury anything, they tell me its a dirt parking lot with a cement pad as my patio outside my camper.. The reason is its a short trip and I would like to stay close to the center of the action.. or big dunes. Im prolly going to end up going the first weekend in may.

I have stayed at all 3 areas. I hate the BLM grounds (egin lakes) for many public servant/authority figure related reasons, the sand hills is way way way way way way way too far away from any of the good dunes IMO, and the desert oasis grounds seem to be my favorite. The people who run it are friendly, they have REAL showers, and REAL toilets that can be used, and it is plenty close to the bigger dunes. I vote Desert Oasis for the win!

I agree, Id like to stay closer to the action and the bigger dunes. But there is the other contingent in my party. Linda HAS to have a wi-fi connection to get her school work done or she can't go so Im hosed there.

I google earthed it. Its 10.5 miles from Sand Hills over to choke the way the crow flies. Its 7 miles the way the crow flies from Oasis. What's 3 more miles, besides out of gas? Laughing

Its not concrete where we're staying yet but we'll see.

All I know is when I had a YFZ the first time we went to St. A's we stayed in the Sand Hills for the firts night only. My YFZ that was basically stock at the time woould barely make it to choke and back from there, and I mean barely. Like once I got to choke I couldnt play around at all if I wanted to make it back. I am sure that my dirtbikes would not be able to make the same round trip on a tank of gas. It may be only 3 miles extra or whatever but I guarantee it will be alot more than that as you wind your way through the dunes. Plus the dunes on the Sand Hills side IMO are way too dangerous because they have ALOT of spots where the wind has blown the sand out of the bottom of a dune leaving a nice bunch of lava rock for you to go flying off into. I dont even like to ride those dunes at that end of the area. I like my secret parking spot that is about a 2-3 minute ride from choke and cant be seen from anywhere on the dunes or from the road.....
